Facial Trauma

Due to good roads and six lane highways and drunken driving, incidence of road traffic accidents and facial trauma has increased greatly. Accident victims not only lose their face, they lose their confidence too. Hence an oral and maxillofacial surgeon trained in craniofacial trauma care is the right person to help such a patient. Trauma care requires through understanding of the structure and function of the head and face region in order to reconstruct the same to its pre accident state as much as possible. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an important aspect of these patients which needs to be born in mind by the trauma surgeons while managing these patients and appropriate rereferral at the right time should be considered.
